Lyophilized Powder Storage

BPC-157 lyophilized powder is most stable at −20 °C in its original sealed vial, protected from light and moisture. Under these conditions, no significant purity loss is observed over 24 months. Refrigerated storage at 2-8 °C is acceptable for short transit periods (<14 days). Room temperature exposure should be minimized; transient excursions (overnight) have no measurable impact on a sealed lyophilized cake.

Reconstitution Solvents

BPC-157 is freely soluble in water and saline. Recommended laboratory solvents: bacteriostatic water (USP, 0.9% benzyl alcohol preservative), sterile water for injection (SWFI), and 0.9% sodium chloride. Solubility exceeds 10 mg/mL. Acetic acid (0.1%) accelerates dissolution but is unnecessary for routine work.

Reconstituted Solution Stability

Reconstituted BPC-157 in bacteriostatic water at 2-8 °C retains >95% purity for 30 days. At 25 °C, expect ~10% degradation over 14 days driven primarily by Asp residue isomerization (Asp10/Asp11) to succinimide intermediates. For maximum integrity, aliquot reconstituted solution and store at −80 °C.

Freeze-Thaw Behavior

Up to 3 freeze-thaw cycles produce no detectable purity change (HPLC). Beyond 3 cycles, modest peak broadening is observed. Best practice: aliquot to single-use volumes (e.g., 100 µL) before freezing.

pH & Degradation Pathways

Optimal solution stability between pH 5.0 and 7.0. At pH <4 or >8, hydrolysis at proline bonds increases. The three consecutive prolines (positions 3-5) are unusually resistant to common proteases.
